Hey, you're doing great! I see you are going to be a foster parent soon. That is so awesome. We actually started the process a few years ago and then decided to put it on hold until after I finish school so that I can be better off financially. My kids will be older the too, so I can take the 'problem' kids that others shy away from. While I would love to take an itty bitty in, I know there is little chance of that happening in my area, so I'd rather rake one that might be left in a group home otherwise.

We started the process a few years ago also and got about half way though when we decided that we wanted to move out of state so we stopped. We moved a year ago, so we started the process again, and the experience has been totally different, and not really in a good way. The lady doing our home study is NOT a nice person, and we were at the point this last week where we wanted to drop out (we are going through the county, we would switch to a private agency) until we got ahold of our worker and she was great at advocating for us. She is taking over the rest of the home study process so we don't have to deal with the other lady anymore.

We are taking ages 0-3yrs because I have worked in childcare my whole life and that is the age group I am most comfortable with. I just don't have the patience for older children. Heck, I barely have the patience for my own son most of the time. LOL!!

Oh tell me about it! It's even worse with girls! My daughter just turned 14, and I swear, if she makes it to 15 it will be a miracle! lol

I would love to have little bitty's, but I have attachment issues as it is (as in I get way too attached way too fast), so having an older kid that hates me (along with the rest of the world) will probably make it less devastating for me to have to say goodbye when they move on. Besides, I like a challenge, and trying to get an angry teenager to like me..... well it doesn't get any more challenging than that! lol

Yeah, I've been checking in from time to time... have more time for reading than posting!

We also thought about fostering, but on the advice of a good friend we won't consider it until our current youngest is much older. Also there are already 9 of us living in such a small house (three bedroom, 1 bath) I don't think the state would even let us take a kid.
