Living in the midwest, I have learned it only takes a split second for weather to go from beautiful to devastating. Are you prepared?

Does your family have an emergency plan for how to contact each other if disaster strikes when you are away from home? If so, what is it? (Help others who don't have a plan to make one.)

Do you have an emergency kit for your family? If so, what is in it?

No to all of the above We're so bad and unprepared! DH is a 911 dispatcher and works 3rd shift, so it's his job to call me until I get up and answer if something is coming in the middle of the night. I don't wake up to the storm sirens at all. That's our only plan...

It would be really hard for me to miss our storm siren. It's quite literally in my back yard! The extent of our emergency kits is the gallon of water in the back of the closet we all crawl in during severs storms. The only plan we have is that if something happened while we were away from the house we would all meet at the park just outside of town.

We are a lot more likely to deal with blizzards than with tornadoes up here. I hated living in the south, the idea of being stuck in a trailer with a bunch of little kids during a serious storm scared me so badly!

Blizzards can be just as devastating! I've been there. Snowed in, very little food, one roll of TP.... yep.... can be almost as bad as a tornado! lol
