Right now, my answer to both questions is that we're in the middle of nowhere. Everything that makes this a great place to raise a family makes it a hard place to earn a living.

I want to be a little further out in the middle of nowhere! lol We are in a really small town, (population of around 215) But I want a farm on a huge acreage so that I can honestly go days without seeing people if I want to.

My answer to both is that we are really close to DH's whole family. It can be really nice when things are going good, or when we need help with something. There are times that we just want privacy though, and there is ALWAYS someone right there.

1 house to the north is a cousin, two houses to the west is his granparents, 1 house north of them is an uncle, 1 house south of the grandparents is another cousin,1 block to the south is a cousin 2 blocks NW is another cousin and 2 great aunts, 2 blocks to the east you have 3 more cousins. 8 miles NE is his parents and his brother. The whole family lives within a 15 mile radius. They are EVERYWHERE, and in a town this size, NO ONE has any secrets or privacy. If I don't lock the door, people just walk right in, regardless of the time of day. I'd like to be a bit further away so that they don't all drop by unannounced.

My favorite thing is that it is a small town. I grew up in the suburbs of KC and I really like the small town atmosphere here compared to the hustle and bustle of the suburbs/city. My least favorite thing is that we live near two prisons. Because of that there are quite a few people out here that are not the type of people I would choose as my neighbors.

Oh, yeah.... living near a prison is not always great. I lived near one where I grew up and it was a pain. It was low security, so they were allowed to moved from building to building and the prison was on both sides of the street, so there weren't any fences even. Every time someone was even a few minutes late showing up where they were supposed to be, the schools went on lockdown and you weren't even allowed to go the restroom until the prison verified that they had located the prisoner and had them secure again. The town is now completely overrun by all the nastiness that you find around a prison.
