Hi, I am 37 and think I'm closer to menopause rather than getting pregnant. I have my period every three weeks like clockwork. The last time I had a 28 day cycle was Dec. 2010. I am now one week late. My B/F and I had unprotected sex 10/13. Chances are I am having an off month where my cycle is 28 days and I will get AF tomorrow. I have taken 3 Answer brand HPT's and all looked negative with the exception of a dark line, but not pink. I have never had children and am curious as to what other women think. I am wondering what the HCG level would be if I conceived on the 13th and it took a long time for implantation. Common sense tells me to wait it out, but curiosity is getting the best of me. Yes I know a blood test would be a better option, but due to work it's not an easy option. I'm also wondering if age has anything to do with low HCG levels. I have noticed sharp twinges below my belly button on the right side and sharp nipple pains on my left nipple that made me check for lumps for a few days and then realized two days ago I am late. Today I thought I was getting my period, but it was just a milky discharge. Any info or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Reason: I forgot to mention that my last period started 9/30/2012.
If you've undergone 3 HPT's then you got negative results, and it's a dark line and not a pink line, why not consult your doctor? You are busy but that instance is not normal. Spare a little time to take care of yourself and have a check-up to be certain. God bless!
