I posted this over in the TTC forum, but nobody has replied - maybe this would be a more appropriate spot...I'd really like to know if anyone else has experienced this at all!
We are in our fourth month of TTC, and this was my first month on Clomid. I used OPKs to track my ovulation and we made sure to BD every other day right around my positive OPK. I was really, really hopeful because of the help of fertility meds, but I also tried really, really hard not to make symptoms up in my own head.
I honestly don't think I've had any symptoms at all, and was quite convinced that AF would show up right on time, on CD28 just like she does every month. Around CD25, I started getting a discharge - white, sticky looking, not runny at all. Almost looks like someone wiped their runny nose on my panties. Sorry if that is TMI!! This discharge is COMPLETELY abnormal for me - not that I never have any discharge at all, but I've never seen this type.
Well, CD28 was this past Friday, Dec 13. There is absolutely NO sign of AF. Usually I start spotting on CD27/CD28 and am full blown by CD29. This of course made me SUPER hopeful, but when I took a HPT yesterday, it could not have been MORE of a BFN!!
However, I had also read that OPKs turn up positives indicating pregnancy before HPTs do. So I pulled out one of my OPKs and sure enough, two lines (test line was not quite as dark, so wouldn't technically be a positive, but when I am not ovulating my OPKs only ever have ONE line - not even a faint second. And the second line on my OPK yesterday was literally only a shade lighter than the control line.
Has anyone else ever experienced this, where a HPT was not detecting pregnancy even after a missed period? Have any of you relied on an OPK in this type of situation??
Not that anyone has responded (I must not be doing this right!), but I just wanted to update - I am now one week late, still getting a positive OPK...also still getting a negative HPT. Still thoroughly confused.
Been reading a lot online and most of it says that if I was pregnant, it would have shown up on the HPT by now. Made an appointment to go in and see my OB/GYN next Monday...that gives me almost another full week to wait and see what happens. Not going to test anymore until the weekend. Pretty sure I already know what I'll see...BFN.
I don't feel pregnant at all. I'm mostly just thoroughly confused by the positive OPK! I've read a lot of threads which said that you can get another surge right before AF...but where in the heck is AF then?!?
I am so sorry that no one responded to you before myself. This is a wonderful place to get help. I think that you maybe should have posted in the main forums instead of a subforum to get the results to your question. Anyhow, I tend to not show positive on an HPT till I am really late. The only time that it did was with my oldest daughter. She was my 5th pregnancy but first live birth. I tested 2 or 3 days after my missed cycle with her and got a BFP. My youngest I never took a HPT to find out. I had a blood draw at the doc office to find out with her. My most recent pregnancy in Aug I got my BFP 11 days after my missed cycle but ended up losing it not long after that. I would say that you should speak your doc and I know that you recently had an appt. What did the doc say? Did they do a blood draw? I am curious to see where you are at with this now. If you need someone to talk to just message me I get on here every other day or every few days. Good luck to you.
