It seems that I have had an awesome opportunity fall into my lap. I might be eligable for a vocational rehab program due to a congenital condition. I was suprised to find that my doctor and my physical therapist were very supportive of my persuing the program and both gave me the documentation that I needed within an hour!
The part that I need help with is . . . I don't know what kind of degree I would like to go after. One of the conditions of voc rehab is that the "new career" would have to be a "desk job" or one that does not require me to be on my feet/ up and down very often. I'm considering social work but I am the kind of person that carries my work home, so I'm afraid I would burn out quickly. I've thought about health information management because I already have an associate's in the same area. Does anyone know of a online career test or guide? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I am supposed to meet with the voc rehab counselor next week. I'm been told that the client is expected to have their "path" lined out already and the counselor basically approves it. IDK if that is true and I'm hoping not.
I apologize for the babbling.
I am not really familiar with the voc rehab program so I don't have a lot of advice. Anything in the health area is very useful and needed so I would steer towards that. Social work is a great field but from what I hear it can be very tough on the person. Let me see what else I can find out!
