I'm not sure of an address. I can get one and let you know, but we have been taking clothes, personal items, foods, etc. to our Civic Center, which I am in north Louisiana. We have a shelter set up for about 3,000 people. And all of the hotels in our area are full.
We are having an emergency shelter set up in my area for victims of Katrina. The Red Cross is setting it up. They are asking for the following: Paper goods, Diapers, Baby formula, Toiletry items, Personal hygiene items, Laundry soap (the single-load size preferred), Bottled water, Soda, Boxed juices, and cots. If you could donate some of those, I would suggest contacting the Red Cross. The foods they are requesting are the following: Single serving snacks -- Pop Tarts, cereal bars, crackers, peanut butter, tuna, "Heat and eat" foods -- chili, stew, pasta with sauce, canned vegetables, etc., Lunchables or other single-serving foods that do not require refrigeration and Meals Ready to Eat (MRE's). (NO GLASS CONTAINERS)
Right now, they don't want clothes because they say it will be too hard to distribute that right now.
BTW, I am located south of Houston!
AJ (age 7) & Katie (age 2.5) PM to see if I am available to make a siggy - decisions will be made on a case by case basis.
I live in southeastern Louisiana, about an hour and a half away from New Orleans. They have several donation drop offs near me. I am willing to help in any way I can. If you would like to talk to me about it, PM me or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks in advance to those who want to help, it is very much appreciated and needed. Also, thanks for all of your prayers and thoughts. It is wonderful to know that so many people care.
I have a friend who lived in NOLA and is now stuck in Houston. She is in need of everything. She has a 6 year old girl and a 4 year girl and a 19 day old baby boy. If anyone can help please PM me or email me at email@example.com and I can get you the information on where to send stuff. Thank you so much. I am going to be sending her a package of stuff as well.
Thank you ~* Helen *~ for the best all about me siggie! You are absolutely fabulous!
