Baby shower today and had fun. I was very pleased with the turnout. Although I have to wonder, do people look at registry's anymore? I did get my crib mattress from my MIL but all other gifts were blankets and clothes. I am a first time mom. I don't have bottles, pacifiers, baby shampoo, baby bath, crib sheets, bassinet, bassinet sheets etc.... Is it because everyone invited was a friend that they didn't think to get me basic stuff and not just clothes? At this moment I wish I would have had a baby shower with my family in California as well as my friends here in Oregon.
Although I do plan on using cloth diapers, I didn't get any baby wipes even. I don't mind using disposable diapers either, just want to try and cut costs down using cloth. I didn't get any diapers.
My friend who put on the baby shower for me said she would have gotten basics and things that maybe I wouldn't have thought that I may need either but she put her money towards the shower. My mom did say to not worry about anything for Ellie because she wants to buy stuff, but I don't expect her to have to buy little things like sheets or baby shampoo. I thought she could help with a carseat or I guess now she can help me stock up a little on diapers...I'm just a little depressed. Thought I'd get more of a variety of gifts instead of the same thing 8 times.
I've found a lot of people don't seem to understand registries were created for a reason. Not that many people bought off my baby registry, but some did...I have a very good turn out I thought at my baby shower, the older ladies all bought off the registry, the my age friends less...people could still get things, do you have a link to your registry? I like to look at them
my mom's side of the family said to tell them what I didn't get at the baby shower so I'm thinking they'll help with essentials. My mom of course said she'd help. And my grandma said she'd help too. But she bought us the crib...which I feel like she paid for that I don't want her to go way too overboard....but she did say she does special things for people who are named after her. hehe.
I'm registered at babies r us and target. Although I'm wanting to change around my carseat and the bassinet stuff. you know my fullname from fb so you should beable to find my registries. I'll go on and change a few things when I get off of JM!
