So I have started to recieve my benefits now! (thank goodness) Just two quick questions

1. When i am supposed to let them know my baby was born? He was 6 weeks early and almost 3 weeks since his birth have gone by now and I have yet to inform them. Is this going to be a problem??

2. When they say to report at the end of the reporting period, what does that mean? What do I have to report and who am I reporting to? And when are reporting periods? lol

Thanks in advance if anyone knows!!!

I don't know about the reporting in thing, but you have to tell them that he came early, because your benefits start on your due date or the day your child is born. So since he was born early you get them for the time since then too.

My dd was 5.5 weeks early....Just call them, they are happy to talk to maternity people....it is odd..Anyway, when participating on the Maternity/Parental leave you will not have to report in, if you saw that on a form it is just because employment insurance usually insists that you report your monthly activities when it comes to looking for work.

I had to wait FOREVER for my benefits, because she was early and I had been on unpaid sick leave.....but they back pay you and there had just been a strike so they were catching up. It happens way faster if you are on direct deposit with them.

Make sure to apply for the CHild Tax benefit too. My dh is a student so we get a little help, other even get anywhere from $10-100 depending on your income and provience.

Good Luck!
