Well, I went out and bought Kairi her first batch of cold weather clothes. I got to thinking that back when I was a child the weather this time of year was still crazy summer heat. Now it has been raining and hailing, flooding, and generally cold... It got me thinking about a lot of then vs. now type things...

Anyone else want to share their Then vs. Now thoughts?

The only one that comes to mind atm is then, moms could take their baby in the car on their laps. I even remember being a kid and sleeping in the backseat with no seatbelt, booster seat or anything.

I have noticed that now kids don't play outside as much as they used to. I am guessing this is due to the amount of computers and game consoles out there and HOW many families have them now vs. then.

When I was a kid my parents NEVER allowed us to have game consoles or use computers and we were ALWAYS outside.

That's a big one for me too! We were outside ALL the time now, I never see kids outside playing!

Also, I was just thinking about this one yesterday, Very few people now really make "homecooked meals".. like stews and things like that..

mmmm stew!! I miss homecooked meals... I try but rarely have the cooking creativity it takes to make something delicious!! My meals are always so bland.

My then and now is: back when I was a child when we wanted to shop from home we would look through the Sears catalogue for all the cool new toys... now everything is online!

Back then we only had "rabbit ears" on our tv, so I mostly got Global, TVO and the french channel, occasionally Fox 29 but it was always snowy. Back then, Global always had saturday morning cartoons on, then it was taken over by "saved by the bell" rip offs when I was still a kid and cared. I dont know what it is now.

Oh man! I don't have now & thens! We are outside A LOT, and I cook everyday (well, last night we orderd pizza, LOL), and the boys LOVE the Wishbook!! We live in a small town, & it's the best way to "shop", even better than online! Everything is here Friday if you order by Tuesday morning.

I think mine would be, not being close to my family now? Back then I lived in a house with my 5 brothers & sisters, so we were always on top of each other. Now I talk to my brother & 1 sister the most & that's just on the phone. I guess we're all just too busy? 1 is in Calgary, I'm in my small town & everyone else is in Saskatoon. Aw, that's kind of sad, now that I think about it!

When I was in high school, we had OAC (gr 13) Now thats gone and kids need 40hrs of community service to graduate.

I saw the math homework my cousins were doing....a few years ahead of when I did it
