It isn't in Alberta.

Dental coverage is not a provincial or territorial thing, it is private.

I do know that if you cannot afford dental coverage that you can go thru the hospital (health unit) in many places and be seen.

The other thing, if you are low income (depends on taxes) you can get blue cross for cheap and this covers dental care.

Here in Ontario it isn't covered. It's private here too. Good luck!

Free dental care?? LOL Dreamworld. I should be a dentist, I mean if I pulled 4 teeth an hour that would be about $800 in my pocket. Dentists are crooks I swear. $1000 for me being in the chair ONE HOUR. Sorry, Im bitter, still havent recovered from that and I have more work to be done.

I had to have a wisdom tooth pulled when I was pregnant, was badly infected and hurt so bad. Cost somewhere around $200. I got about 8 cavities while pregnant too I have 4 left to be fixed.

Hmm... I agree, do call Canada Health to check. Because if it IS free I sure missed out. I would get pregnant again just to get all I need done and save the thousands of dollars it would cost me now. If you get any more info. please let us know! That would really be fantastic!

Perhaps regular check ups and cleanings are free? I wouldn't imagine major dental work would be!

I had to pay when I was pregnant, and I know for a fact that they wouldn't have charged me if that was how it was in Canada. It's private here in BC too. We get ours through DH's work.
