My baby boy has to have surgery on Friday to repair an Inguinal Hernia. It is day surgery but he will be under anesthetic. I am starting to get really nervous even though I have been assured there is very little risk involved. It's the "going under" thing that is freaking me out! Any other Mommas gone through surgery with their babes?

my son had double hernia surgery when he was 3 months old, and let me tell you I was a mess!!!
all went well with him and everything I had to have somebody else to change his diaper for few days because I couldnt look at it LOL< but you could not see much really , I am just a chicken

I am only mad, that they put him under and then they had an emergency surgery so he stayed under for longer than was necessary but I guess there is not much I can do, I carried him to the OR, they gave me gown, and hair thing, I was crying, but I told them I was gonna go as far as possible

but I am a big chicken!!

Oh WOW Momma that is scary! 3 Months! Soooo tiny at that age! I don't blame you one bit for being afraid. I was scared of the umbilical stump lol. DH was home for the first two weeks and I said to James "now listen young man you need to LOSE that thing before Daddy goes back to work tomorrow". Lucky for me he used to listen back in those days

I am fearing recovery a bit since James is SO ACTIVE. He is running now not just walking. How do you tell a 13 month old he has to "take it easy" for a couple weeks.

I know a 4 year old girl that had it done, doctors told them to make sure she isnt too active, but next day after surgery the girl was back at preschool with no painkillers!!! kids are pretty amazing that way!!!
