How long are they supposed to last? 6 almost 7 years ago my dh and I moved in together and bought a queen size bed. a year ago the box spring broke which wasn't a big deal because our landlord gave us one that he didn't need anymore. Last night our mattress exploded Well it didn't actually explode but a couple springs broke and popped up and wow they are sharp! We were going to flip it but the other side has springs poking up too. Is that a good life for a mattress? We didn't treat it badly but it has been through 7 moves.

No warranty. It was a pretty cheap mattress, only about $500 when we got it (it was a piece of junk from the moment we bought it but it was all we could afford). It sucks to sleep on and we've been wanting to get a new one for awhile but never wanted to spend the money when we already had something that was good enough. I'm just kind of annoyed because I think $500 should last longer... though I don't know much about mattresses so I don't know how long a $500 mattress should last.

I really have no idea. The mattress we have was given to us my DH's step Dad (we had a really nice one but sold it to have one less thing to move), I'm betting it's close to that old..

Oh well. I wanted a nice new mattress anyway. The one we got has a really good warranty. I didn't really listen when he was talking about it but I did hear when he said that if we spill something on it we are immediately supposed to call a number and do as they tell us or wait till they come clean it. If they can't get it clean then we get a brand new mattress for nothing
