Christmas budget? Do you have one? How closely do you tend to stick to your goal? If you don't have one how do you keep your spending in check?

It's easy to keep our spending in check because we only buy for one person and that's our ds. We always try to get our shopping done early because we can take advantage of clearance before they put out Christmas stock. What I really want to start doing is to buy gifts throughout the year so we arn't spending a bunch of money all at once. I think we spent just over $100 this year on his gifts.. a little more when stocking stuffers are added in. We also spent a bit on Christmas baking supplies.

This year was a total freebie for us because of winning the Costco card. It was kind of nice to just splurge and not think about it kwim? We went back and forth about being practical or having fun and decided that since it was found money we should have fun.

I want to try and do the buy throughout the year thing next year too Patricia! I plan to scour the after Christmas shelves for toys for DS for next year!

That's a good idea. For some reason I never thought to start Christmas shopping right after Christmas. That's even better clearance than end of summer!

We don't really have a budget. We just kind of buy things and when we feel we're done we're done. Which is probably dangerous to our wallets! LOL!

our budget is pretty low this yr. SO just went back to work and we have had to play catch up on bills and stuff. And after a week of working he came home hurt so now we have to wait for short term disablity to start. Which sucks.
We plan on getting the kids one big thing and a few small things. For everyone else I am doing homemade gifts..bath salts, cookies and crocheted blankets.
It will be a nice Christmas

This is the first year we've had a budget, ever. We'll spend $100 per kid and adult, then $50 for the IL's
