At my mommy class this morning, the focus was self, how the mom maintains her identity, sanity, etc. So what do you do to wind down, get back to yourself, etc.? Things discussed this morning include baths, reading, shopping, running, etc.

Going to the gym is great 'me' time. I am totally focused on myself and making myself feel good. The courses I am taking are also good for me to stay myself since I need to keep my mind occupied since I am not at work.

I read a few chapters most nights, have a bubble bath about once a week, and Mondays I usually go for a hot tub with my sister at my parents so Cameron visits with Grammy and Papa.

I have my business that I consider "me-time". And I read a lot. But it took me a few years to realize I needed me time. Before DD started school, I was 100% focused on her and eventually DS also. It was like I forgot I was my own person. It's good that you ladies with new babies haven't fallen into that trap!

Me time? Umm, I think I gave up on that years ago. I'm actually considering going back to work outside the home (after 5 years of being home) because I do nothing but things with kids right now. Even my activites involve kids, I coach my on DD's ringette team, I'm team manager for my other DD's ringette team, I'm a Brownie leader with my daughter now in my unit, I stay home with DS all day, and I'm getting worn out. I need some time away from kids.

I'm obviously the wild one in here, I go to a ladies bible study group I wouldn't take an evening away just for me for any other reason, but this is a good reason to go out.

That's what the speaker was stressing, we need to maintain our identities and that you can balance being a mom as well as a person.

Caroline...I hope you find some me time! My bath may just be 20 minutes, my hot tub half an hour, and my reading 10 minutes a night, but I truly value it.
