I'd be ok paying an extra couple cents to not have to carry around so many **** pennies! I think in general it's a good thing to get rid of. I see no issues with prices at stores/restaurants rounded up or down accordingly.
OK, here's my thing. Even if stores round their prices to the nearest nickle, after you add tax it still won't be rounded! Stores might as well leave the prices at what they are and just round after taxes are added.
Otherwise, I really don't care if we have pennies or not. Although I am loosing how I bribe my kids. DD2 is starting to grow out of it but in 6 months or so DS would be at the right age to bribe with pennies.
I thought it was after taxes too! Oh my, is that ever silly!
On the news the other day, they were saying some places with old-school tills may have to completely replace the till to accommodate the switch since some people don't trust cashiers to provide the correct change manually
