Ok, I'm going to chat with you ladies this month! January kicked my family in the bum. We have all been sick almost non-stop. DD missed more school than she attended. It's been ridiculous. Fingers crossed that is all behind us and we can move on with our lives!

Winterlude starts this weekend. We're hoping to get out on the Rideau Canal and skate and eat Beavertails. Does anyone else have winter festivals this month?

Nothing here for winter. We're in a sleepy little city that really does nothing exciting.

Someday I want to make the trip to Winterlude, I think the kids would love it and I've never been there. DH wouldn't enjoy it much though, he can't skate.

Winterlude sounds like a lot of fun. Shame on my Canadian self, I don't think I know what a Beavertail is. (I guess there's the evidence that I'm an import).

Congratulations to your friend!

Mmm, I love beavertails!

We have a month long festival in the city (an hour away), so we plan on checking that out at some point.

Yesterday was my first day moving into my new office! Busy! And today I have a cake to do for DH's grandparent's 60th anniversary party- and then the party this afternoon.

Yay for the pregnant friend, very exciting.

I love Elephant ears!

I had a massive housecleaning day yesterday, got done at 10pm. But we went away for a few days this week (to Lake Louise, super fun) and I had been somewhat ignoring my house before that so I had to get caught up. I did 9 loads of laundry (even though I have a big front load) almost got those folded.

We usually go skiing on saturdays, we have a hill nearby, and a seasons pass, so we try to go out every saturday to get some fresh air.

I haven't been skiing or snowboarding in far too long, like, years!

Cake is finished (I'll share a picture later). I had to stop and nurse Hannah and then get ready to go!

I haven't gone snowboarding in a few years, I was going to start again last year but was pregnant. I am hoping to get out at least to the small local resort this year.

Can't wait to see the cake!

Uploading photo now, although it's a fairly simple design really, not my favourite cake by a long shot, but ah well.

I just saw your earlier post about my to do lists, Jess, I really don't find myself THAT busy, I'm just, never bored?

Here it is, horrible photo though, ot looks lumpy and the pillars look cheap and plasticy- neither were true, they have a frosted glass look.

That's really pretty! You did a great job!

I'm an equally bad Canadian. I hate the cold weather. I could very easily hibernate until May!

I don't consider myself a busy person either. Weekends are a little nuts but even then we're so used to it that when it ends in March we all look around and wonder what to do.

I got my hair cut yesterday. Last week I had 3 people comment to me about how young I looked. Not that I mind looking younger than my age, but when you're in your mid 30's and someone tells you that you still look like you're in highschool it's time to change your look. Someone else asked me how young I was when I had DD1 since there's no way I should have a 9 year old. So my hairdresser and I had a good laugh and she gave me a completely new look. I've had long straight hair with a center part for a long long time now, it was a little more than half way down my back. Now it's shoulder length with a side part and lots of layers.

I like the look of the cake - lovely and elegantly simple!

9 loads of laundry!!! Yikes, that's a ton.

I feel pretty terrible today - I think I am succumbing to this illness that's around. I am not going to make it to the gym today but I am going to drag myself out to the ice festival. Rich let me sleep in a bit which will help. I want to feel better by tomorrow - I have no patience for being sick!
