26 days until spring, what are you looking forward to planting first?

I have saved a bunch of mushroom containers and I want to get a head start on some lettuce that I want to sell at the farmer's market.

I am also excited about getting a fence! I am going to dip in to RRSP to close in our yard so that Theo is kept in, and dogs whose master's don't use leashes stay out!

Mushrooms are so much fun to grow! We did portabellos in styrofoam coolers on year with the girls, they loved eating their own mushrooms and watching how big they could get.

A fence will be really nice!

I am hoping to get my garden in before baby arrives.. seeing as he is due the weekend I want to plant, lets keep our fingers crossed. Where do you keep your 'starter's plants? I think this year I'm just gonna buy already started plants... if I'm more together next year I'd like to start everything myself!

Mom and I work together since all I have room for here are a few flowers. We set up some tables and hang grow lights in her basement to start the new plants. It's the set up my Grandma used and since Mom is now living in that house we just kept the set up going, no point in reinventing the wheel.

That makes sense Caroline.

We have 15 (I think or 20, can't remember now) shiitake mushroom logs in the yard that we bought last spring. They fruited in the fall when Theo was still newborn and I didn't catch them early enough to eat them at their peak. I am looking forward to them this spring. The logs are supposed to last 3 or 4 years.

I've wondered about the logs and how well they grow. I keep looking at them but haven't invested the money in some yet. You're making me think I should go get some.
