I had lasik done 8 years ago.
My eyes weren't all that bad, but it's great not to have to deal with glasses/contacts, and it's an investment ($1600 at the time) but it's more than paid for itself, best money I ever spent.
I got glasses when I was about 9, got contacts at 14 and PRK surgery 3 years ago, best money I ever spent! I couldn't read my alarm clock while laying in bed. I love not having to reach for glasses just to see the time.
I wear glasses, because of whatever is wrong with my eyes (I can never remember the name of it, but it's something to do with my focus) I will never be able to wear contacts. I don't mind wearing glasses though.
