What is something silly you totally believed when you were a child?

(e.g. all cats are girls and all dogs are boys, babies are born through bellybuttons etc.)

That the man walking around the drive in theater with a flashlight was making sure that all the children were asleep before the second movie started! (my parents were so mean!)

That if you picked your nose you might catch your eyeball strings and pull your eye out your nose.. THAT was terrifying to me!

When I was 3 I believed I'd be able to figure out how to fly if I caught a bird and could study its wings. No one told me that, I just insisted it was true. I spent many days trying to sneak up on them when one landed. Of course I never managed to do it!

My grandfather had me convinced that if I ate the crust of my bread I'd get the curly hair I so desperately wanted. He also had me believing that if I ate carrots I wouldn't need my glasses.

I ate a ton of bread crust and carrots as a child. I still have straight hair and the only thing that got rid of my glasses was laser surgery.

Please take my curly hair! I wish for straight!

I hated carrots even though my mom told me the same thing I rarely ate them and now I wear glasses

I believed if you didn't like throwing up, you couldn't have a baby (my mom was violently sick every time!). Seriously, who likes it??? (I never had morning sickness but still lol)

LOL! Funny, as an adult now, I hate bread crust and I rarely eat carrots.

My poor DD1 believes the same thing as you. She watched me be so sick I was hospitalised a couple of times with both her brother and sister. She now says she never wants to be that sick so she's not going to have kids. I've tried to tell her not everyone is as sick as mommy but she doesn't believe me.

Oh my! I'm sorry you were so sick! My mom wasn't that far, but she hugged the toilet for the 1st trimester, and we were not allowed to tell anyone she was so sick every morning. I just remember thinking you must have had to enjoy that to want a baby it was my biggest fear when deciding to try - not labour, not gain weight, but possibly throwing up at the beginning LOL.

I thought mermaids were real and always was looking for them in the lake at my grandparents' cottage - its maybe a mile in diameter and 30 feet deep a the deepest point
