We only buy raid and such if its late at night and we need an immediate fix. DH gets nasty stuff from work that usually do the trick.

The people that had the house before us did NOT take care of it. It was so overgrown and we're still fighting things back. Its a breeding ground for bugs and ants and such. As we were cleaning down the whole kitchen yesterday after he sprayed, we were talking about how at least we don't have mice. My parents would get mice from time to time...they have 4 cats now

We had 2 little moles living under our sink before we redid the kitchen. I was not impressed and the cats thought they were pets and wouldn't do anything about them.

It took until the 2 most recent cats to get rid of the mice.

One of the cats, Nemo, is a sweetheart, but he is so not a mouser

I've been trying to convince DH to get a cat, but he's not on board yet. But we already have a dog and a bird...and a baby lol.

I'm just jumping right in, I didn't read back far. But mice, ugh, we always have a couple move into the garage in the fall.

2 months later, I finally I have my youngest birth certificate...long form...for her passport. Thankfully I can just go to the city 45 minutes away and will still get it in time.

I still need to order Cam's longform birth certificate...I keep forgetting. I didn't know I needed it when he was born and just got the short form one. He doesn't need a passport yet since we're not planning to go anywhere but 2 months is a CRAZY wait! That sucks that its a 45 min drive still to get the passport.

Yeah starting in 2012 they require the long form one to get a passport. Before that only the short form one was required.

Money grab and PIA IMO.

I agree! We got all our kid's passports done just before the new rules came in. We don't need them right now but as long as I keep them current I don't have to apply and pay for the long form birth certificate.

It's been really hard to get good pictures of him, his teeth are on the move so he always has funny expressions on his face or his tongue half in / out as his jaw is bothering him, so I didn't have a lot to work with but Kristy did an AMAZING job with what I gave her to work with. I wanted a siggy with a picture since he's starting to look like a little boy instead of an infant *tear* I can't believe he's going to be 10 months this month!

Random statement of the night: I love Roseanne! Seriously that was like the best sitcom ever!

What is the difference between the short and long form birth cert? I don't know which one we have, part of me thinks it might differ province to province.
We cross the border all the time, but by land you only need the birth certificate not a passport for children, so we likely won't get Arthur's unless we plan on traveling by air.

I am waiting to get back our newborn photos then I want to get a siggy made...how do I do that?

The short one is the little card like one that you can carry in your wallet.

The long one is a legal sized piece of paper I believe, it states who the parents are, where the child was born, the attending doctor/midwife, not sure if it states size and weight or not, but it has all the details.

Basically they are requesting that so you can prove the child is yours. It's supposed to help prevent fraud.

I never watched Roseanne but DH did.

If he ever wants to get a passport, he needs the long form, previously just the short form was required but the rules changed 1/1/2012. But that is for Ontario, I definitely don't know the differences province to province.

Siggies you can request here: Siggies R Us - JustMommies Message Boards. There's a sticky with all the 'rules' and several makers you can request directly from in a subforum, or post FFA (free for all) on the main board. I've done both and have never been disappointed

They layout of the birth certificates may vary a little from province to province, but passports are issued by Federal government so requirements for them are going to be the same across Canada I would think.

If I remember right, you need a passport for any child to fly, but they can cross the US border until you're 16 (I think) with just your birth certificate and one other piece of ID.

At work today, it's a short day though and I'm going for lunch soon with a couple of my cousins and my Mom
