Hi ladies,

When it comes to monitors, I'm clueless! I don't know what to look for, what brands are good, I know nothing!

What do you guys recommend? What should I look for?

I have Safety 1st... it's portable and the baby end can clip onto the crib or playpen. The parent end is portable and you can clip it to your pants! So when doing laundry it comes in handy!

We had a handmedown with my son, which is old, so this time we got the Angel care one, which is great for SIDS. It has an alarm if your baby stops breathing after 10 seconds, and once the baby is old enough to roll off the pad, you can use it as a regular baby monitor

My friend had one of the Angel care ones and it kept going off when there was nothing wrong with her daughter so it mainly ended up freaking her out!

What monitor would I NOT recommend: The Fisher Price lights and sounds, I have that thing and it is a hunk of garbage, I have not even had it for two years and the volume setting is screwed, when you try to turn up the volume it screeches and makes white noise and also it has only two channels, neither which seem to be clear. I am looking to get a new one and it looks like that Saftey first one is high on the list, I would however LOVE one of those video ones from Sears! I think they go for around 159.00 or so but I am one of those Moms wh has a tendancy to check on her kid ALL THE TIME, even now that she is 2 (not as bad as in the beginning though thankfully!) I really want a monitor this time with TWO handsets as I always get downstairs and forget the thing upstairs, so it would be nice to have one that I could leave down there and one upstairs in my room.

The angle care can be bad if the baby is old enough to move off of the pad.
But its reassuring knowing if he/she stops breathing for that long, you know about it.

thats what i've heard.
we have a basic run of the mill playskool one so i figure i'll use the angle care until she is moving around and "graduate" to the playskool one.

Did ya knwo you can still use the angelcare after the baby can move? I think you can just remove the padding and still use it as a regular baby monitor. Im not 100% tho, but I think so
