My husband and I were at Walmart tonight and as we were waiting to pay for our stuff we witnessed something so awful it still has me steaming!

One of the customer service managers was belittling her staff (our cashier) in front of us. This lovely young lady had obviously made a mistake and the manager felt the need to correct her on this (in a very demeaning manner) in front of us. She was rude in telling the girl how to properly deal with the problem and then basically called her stupid and lazy. I could not believe how she was ranting about it long after belittling her. When the manager stepped away we said something to the girl that it must be awful to have to work with someone like that.

As we walked away my husband went up to the manager and told her that was not the way to talk to her staff and she replied in a not so nice tone....ya i know and basically brushed him off.

As we walked to our car and I thought there was no way she was going to get away with this. As soon as I stepped into the house I called and spoke with another customer service manager. Told him that I found it rude and offensive that a manager would do that. There is a time and a place and definately not in front of customers like that. I plan on following up tomorrow with the manager of the store so I know something is done about this.

It is just not acceptable. No one should have to talked to like that no matter what you have done. Everyone makes mistakes. This women obviously hates her job and needs to quit.

I just wanted to share my experience with you and I hope if any of you experience anything like this when out shopping or at a restaurant you speak up. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect.

I used to work at wal-mart in penticton and the higher ups always treated their employees badly. It's one of the reasons I quit.

That's awful!! I'm so glad that you and your DH are doing something about it! No one deserves that kind of treatment!

That CS manager is lucky it wasn't me she was yelling at! I probably would've been fired for backhanding her LOL! Let us know how things go with the manager.

Its illegal to belittle or be talked down to by your superiors and it can cost them their job. A mnager at my boyfriends work almost lost his job for that exact reason. I cant remember the law name....my bf does.

I used to work at Wal-Mart in Oshawa, and there was one night where one of the managers locked everyone working the closing shift in the store until 1am (3 hours after we closed and after the last bus. I had to walk an hour home in the dark). Anyway, she locked us in the store to clean it, despite the fact that there are night shift workers who do that. She refused to let anyone out of the store until it was perfect to her standards.

She was fired a week later, and I quit the day after.[/b]
Brandi that is insane! I am so glad I never applied there when looking for a part time job. I would have been miserable there.

That is crazy Brandi! I would have taken a taxi and brought the receipt into the manager on my next shift for reimbursement!

Well I called again today and spoke to a manager. She of course couldn't tell me what will be done (which I understand) but I kind of got the feeling that she wouldn't do anything about it.

At least I know I spoke up and said something about it.
