Since having Iris, I've lost a bit of weight. I think mainly because I am feeding her myself, as I've not really been trying to. So I was wondering whether, once I stop breastfeeding, will I clap a load of weight back on? And how much?

Reason I'm wondering is that I'm going to be a bridsemaid for my sister in December. Iris will be 6 months old at that point and probably no longer exclusively breastfeeding. Next week I have an appointment with a dressmaker (our bridesmaid dresses are being made). Do I go on my current body shape/weight, or will I be more the shape I was pre-pregnancy? I don't know what to do! Any advice welcome.

the dress makers should do fittings every now and then and 1 a couple of days before wedding and should be able to take out and in if need be

Nichola, I guess it really depends on your lifestyle. If you eat relatively healthily and get regular exercise then there is no reason why you should put weight on once you stop breastfeeding. If on the other hand you are eating a dozen chocolate bars a day, then that's a different story!!

Forgot to mention - I don't live that close to the dressmaker, so won't be having regular fittings. The wedding is abroad (well, on a cruise ship), so the dress is getting made and finished a few weeks before the wedding. They're the reasons that the dressmaker is kinda having to guess how big I'll be. I just don't know whether to base measurements on what I am now, or what I was before - IYSWIM.

Well, when Zach started on solids and dropped a couple of breastfeeds a day, I didn't put on any weight.

I hope I'm like you, Lou! I have a sweet tooth. And have been living a bit on curries and fish and chips for the past few weeks. That's why I'm a bit worried.

I haven't BTDT but I'm with Lou, I can't see why you would put any back on unless you're eating really bad

I have a real sweet tooth Nichola, and no will power either, which is a lethal combination!!

Try to eat as sensibly as you can and I'm sure you will be just fine.

i lost alot when i bf Jack and then when i stopped i didnt put on any weight - it sort of slowed down after the first couple of months anyway. I would go on what you are now and then it can be altered nearer the wedding if needs be - i wouldnt go on your shape from before you were pg as pregnancy has a habit of changing your body shape - eg wider hips etc
