Youll prob find with her at nursery she'll come on quick over the next while. Being in with the other kids usually does wonders for them!

Alyssa didn't really talk much until she was 2 and 10 months and then she started and never stops, i posted here about the same thing, can she say 50 words Kate? thats what my HV said when I rang her when Alyssa was 2.5 and she could.

Karen I have no idea how many words she can say actually..I have never really counted...Should I count just how many words she can say properly? Or words she can say, but doesnt say them right if you know what i mean..for example when she says knife she says wife lol x

I read somewhere that you shouldn't worry about understanding them properly or other people understanding them until they are 3. I think she will come on LOADS after a few weeks at nursery you will see!

Everyone comments how good Emma's speech is for an almost 2 year old she is saying 5 word sentences sometimes now! Most of the time she is really clear and anyone can understand but other times when she is talking to herself when she is playing it's total gobbledegook lol

I wouldn't worry Kate at least she is talking and trying. Every child is different x

I agree with Lucy, if you counted every word she can say I bet it's past 50, even if she doesn't pronounce it right (Alyssa sometimes pronounces L as an N) They do come on when they start mixing with kids alot more.

I don't know anything about speech development as Zach is only just learning simple words now, but the other girls have given you some good advice. If you are concerned then I would certainly bring it up with your Health Visitor.

Chances are you won't be able to shut her up in a few months time! Mention it at her 3 year check and if your HV is at concerned she'll refer her to a speech therapist. Lucas saw one when he was 3 because he couldn't pronounce D or T, after a few weeks of therapy he was talking perfectly xx

Sebi is really coming on now...it just came out of nowhere...I think being at preschool is going to help them both a lot. Speech problems are so frustrating. I bet in a few months we will be wondering what all the fuss was about!

Ditto to Charlotte, it just comes out of nowhere!! Even a month or so ago Emma was still only saying one or two word sentences and all of a sudden the last few weeks she started talking in sentences. I hear something new from her at least twice a day at the minute!!! Her latest ones are "How are you... alright" lol and "Go away Daddy" haha!!
