NO MENTION ON FACEBOOK PLEASE AS WE HAVE NOT TOLD ANYONE YET APART FROM MY MUM AND AUNT.

...I am officially PREGNANT!

Close-up...

Odd reaction from the doctor's surgery...apparently they don't need you to do a pee test for them to confirm anymore since home tests are so accurate, you just have to turn up to the next antenatal clinic (which in my case is 21st December) and see the midwife...I don't know whether she'll do bloods or whatever but I found it all pretty cavalier. Mind you this is the NHS. Just wondered if anyone else in the UK has encountered this before? I even argued with the receptionist saying "but when I had my son I had to do a test at the surgery to confirm..." she just asked me when that was and I said 5 years ago and she said everything had moved on a lot since then. Weird!

But anyway...still happy! Will be resting up and I've already been told by Shaun not to be stressing about finding a job now. Might as well just do supply for now.

Wow! Congratulations- what great christmas pressie!
My surgery was the same with both of mine and the first appointment with the midwife was a disappointment too. She just took details and made the scan appointment and next mw appointment. I think because I was so thrilled and excited I wanted them to be too
H&H 9 months x

Congratulations!!

I was so angry at the lack of 'care' when I rung up and said I was pregnant...They didnt need to do any blood tests or anything to confirm even though we used medical assitance.
I had a booking appointment at 8 weeks where they took my blood pressure, some blood work for HIV and some other things. There was no check on the baby untill my 12 week scan.
Also, even though I am classed as high risk apart from booking in I have seen the midwife ONCE at 16 weeks and she didnt even listen to the heartbeat. My next midwife appointment is at 34 weeks. Apparntly even though I am highrisk I dont need to be seen that often unless I have a problem as 'I know what I am doing' Great service huh?

Ugh it's all just penny-pinching Emma. I'm thinking I have to buy a doppler thingumybob myself if it's going to be like that because I was super anxious throughout my pregnancy with Daniel and hearing his little heartbeat regularly was one of the things that kept me sane. How is it that high-risk mums don't get seen any more often? That's ridiculous!

I have no idea, but it is disgusting and appaling.
I have a doppler that I borrowed off my sister and it has been a life saver - that and she is a real wiggler.

I don't come on the boards very often, but I do occasionally check them, so when I saw that you are expecting I was thrilled and just wanted to say a massive congratulations to you and Shaun and wish you a happy and healthy 9 months.

Thank you ladies. I thought I would pop back and post this for those of you who still check the board. I cannot post it on FB as we are not done yet telling family and I have cousins on FB.
