Well early DH went outiside to plant the eggs for our egg hunt. The boys were so excited and Amelia didn't have a clue what was going on. When we all excitedly went outside to hunt we had a bit of a job finding all the eggs that were hidden. Then Reese spotted a lot of egg foil in the grass, the dogs had had a fine feast with the eggs. Poor DH didn't think about the dogs and didn't put them in places where they couldn't get them. The boys did find a few eggs and Amelia (with help) got two so it wasn't a total disaster. My poor DH is always like this, he always does thing with the biggest of hearts and normally dosn't go the way he planned. Even any of my family won't loan him tools or anything anymore because he is guaranteed to break them. My heart goes out to him because he has the greatest of intentions. The boys now keep asking why the easter bunny would leave the eggs where the dogs could get them.

Oh dear, what a question to field - glad they found some eggs though!

Trying to think of an answer you could give them. Perhaps something to the tune of the Easter bunny has so many children to deliver eggs to, it doesn't really get time to consider things like pet dogs and such?

Poor DH, I bet he feels really bad, and he was only trying to do something nice for the kids.

Also I hate to mention this but are the dogs ok - isn't chocolate supposed to be dangerous for dogs or something, or am I getting that wrong (cat keeper rather than dog keeper here)?

Your right, dogs are not meant to eat chocolate, but we are about 8 hours later and they both seem fine. DH will have to think a bit better next year on where to hide them. He feels really bad about it, but we are all just laughing about it, it wasn't an intentional thing that he did. He always reminds me a bit of Frank Spencer, does things with a heart and a half but there always has to have something go wrong. We are all used to it now, even himself.

I was a bit worried for the dogs too there! But in saying that, growing up, our dog hated doggy chocs and would only eat Cadburys buttons, he lived until he was 14, not bad for a poodle who was the runt of the litter!!
Next year the bunny will have to jump higher when he hides them

Next year will definatly be thought about more in advance. The dogs are both fine today, so definatly no problems caused by eating the chocolate.
