Is there anything going on in your neighbourhood to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee this time?

Is anyone actually having a good old-fashioned street party? Do people even do that anymore?

Not as far as I'm aware, but then again I am in Scotland where the attitude is yeah whatever

Obviously we are not as im in Ireland, but my dad is english and i remember the day Princess Diana and Prince Charles got married we were on holidays in my nana's house in portsmouth and there was this big street party, it was so nice. I can remember it was 1981 and i was only 3 at the time but its a lovely memory that has stuck with me always. There was flags everywhere and tables and chairs out on the street with all sorts of lovely treats, one particular thing i remember is a man with his head in a thing like a stocks and i got to throw wet sponges at him. Its just such a lovely memory of when my nana was alive, she passed away about 3 years later.

I've never been to a street party. Having seen old photos of my nanna's of that sort of thing though it looked sort of fun...but there are a lot of antisocial people in our street and it would never work here.

I am not a royalist by any means anyway. We're having a party at school where the children will make their own Jubilee or crown themed party hats and the PTA are funding food and a red/white/blue bookmark with the school name on for each child.
