Do you use the bus, the train, trams, or taxis as well as the family car?Just the family car.
How near is your nearest train station, can you walk or would you have to get a bus? Our nearest train station is about 15 miles away, and as i live in the middle of the countryside we have no bus service either so if you want to get anywhere you need to use the car. The school do have their own buses that collect the boys in the morning and drops Jake off in the afternoon at our front gate. Next year when Reese finishes at the same time he will come home on the bus too.

We don't drive so we rely on public transport, saying that i can't remember the last time we used it LOL! we walk, and if things are not walking distance we usually don't go.. we are tight
oh and we are only a 15 minute walk from the train station
I'd love to have a train station that close as you can get so much further on the train. Our nearest train station is Atherton which is a good hour and a half walk up two very steep hills. Otherwise, it's a 20-minute bus to Atherton first. Pain.
We're supposed to be getting a tram service through Tyldesley which would connect us up to Manchester, I hope they go through with it because from Manchester Piccadilly you can pretty much get anywhere in the country. I'd love to go car-free but at present it wouldn't work with the dire transport links here.
The government over here keeps pushing for less cars on the road by raising car tax, introducing carbon tax and lots of other additional costs, however they are not putting in place better public transport to enable people to leave their cars at home. It just dosn't make sense to me.
