So one thing I do still need to get is a TENS machine as I really want to try using one during labour.
I haven't yet as I am not sure which brand to buy. Sometimes it's possible to get them on Ebay for a discount, but I'm not sure which is the best brand. I'm going to look up some reviews, but wondered also if anyone had any experience of a particular one and could advise whether it was good or what the advantages and disadvantages of it were at all?
Sorry i missed this when you posted it. I bought a tens machine while pregnant with Jake, and it was fab in early labour. I got my aunt to post it over from the UK as they wern't available here. It was the boots own brand maternity tens machine and i liked it. I would offer you a lend of mine but my mum is using it to ease her back/hip pain at the moment.
I went ahead and ordered one last night....I read a ton of reviews and I too have gone for a Boots one - it's the Babycare Elle TENS kit! It was £20 cheaper on an Ebay store than it was on Boots.com so I've ordered it from there. Should be here in a few days and then will have about a month (well, I hope) to fiddle with it and figure out how it works. Thanks for this Molly, it's good that the one you're recommending is the same brand I have gone for.
The only time it didn't ease the pain when using it during Jakes labour is when DH fell asleep in the chair behind me when he was in control of pressing the button to get it going. We had a whole system worked out, i feel a contraction i give him the word and he pressed the button, but this one contraction i felt no relief and when i turned around he was fast asleep. It was the only time he got a wallop of me during any of my labours and believe me he never fell asleep during labour after that lol.
