do your kids have them, jack started screaming last night at about 12 because there were *spiders * in his bed, he was terrified and came into our bed.everytime he dozed off he started screaming, in the end he just refused to even try to sleep and sat bolt upright till about 4am just staring and shaking, his eyes were massive. we are all tired this morning but i wondered if anyone has had experience with anything like that?

Both the girls have had nightmares, lacey wakes up screaming a couple of times a month & rhianna does but hers is triggered by the fire alarm at school, it went off as a tester and its traumatised the poor girl! she was waking up screaming for a month after and saying the fire alarm was going off, she hates loud noises bless her! she is terrified of the fire alarm in the house now incase it goes off and asks me everyday if its going to go off at school and i have to say i don't think so but i can't 100% say it's not going to go off, she's on edge all the time.
Hope Jack is ok now after his nightmares, bless him, they are not nice at all

fire alarm testing in school shouldnt be done when the kids are in. I remember being really jumpy about it when I was a kid and now, as a teacher, if they do it on a sunny day I take the kids outside in case any of them are the same.

Sorry Jack was having such horrible dreams Rach! Sounds like night terrors to me. Did he eat anything or have anything happen yesterday that might've unsettled him? nice milky drink and cuddles b4 bed tonight should help. Poor little love.

Daniel went thru a phase when we lived in the flat, so he was 2-3 yrs old. Not every night but around once a week. He could see a head floating in his bedroom in the dreams. He used to be able to get to sleep in my bed after though.

Poor Rhianna..thats awful!
Thanks girls, I was just the pure terror in his eyes that unsettled me, his pupils were so large there was no iris visible, it just went on for hours! after talking to his SNA she said that they had read a story with a spider in it yesterday so maybe that was it, hopefully we will never get a repeat of it

That sounds more like night terrors than a nightmare, especially as he was so traumatised by it. Poor little guy. I hope he sleeps better tonight.
