When do you take down your christmas decorations?

Is it the same time every year or whenever the mood catches you?

I'll be taking them down over the next couple of days I think. I take them down at different times each year depending on my mood.

I think its an Irish thing, specifically the county im in but its tradition to leave them up till Jan 7th. Correct me girls if im wrong but i think its a local thing here where on Jan 6th we celebrate 'Womens Little Christmas' where the men put on a little christmas and the ladies get a day off because they did all the work over christmas then that night all the pubs have nights on for women only, only brave men set foot in a pub that night lol. So the decs stay up for that and come down on the 7th. I could be wrong and tell me if i am but someone told me its a Cork thing.

Stays up until the Epiphany on the 6th January, but here that's seen as a 'Catholic thing' most non-Catholics have theirs down around the 1st!

I wish we had that here Molly!

We usually leave them up til Epiphany. Mum would have them down sooner but I'm the one who goes to all the trouble and I say leave em up as long as poss to get the full benefit from them.

Last year we did it sooner, even before New Year which is unheard of for me, cause we had a crap tree from B&Q that dropped its needles really early but we left up one decoration until the 6th so as to avoid bad luck. Pah with the year I've had, not sure that worked.
