A friend of mine keeps asking me if I fancy meeting up at our local soft play area and I keep declining because of all the nasty bugs that are going round at the moment. I know the kids could easily pick bugs up from school, but my argument is schools are thoroughly cleaned on a daily basis whereas soft play areas are not and really are a breeding ground for germs! So far other than Zach, we have managed to avoid picking up Norovirus and I'd like it to stay that way. At 32 weeks pregnant I really don't want to get sick. I feel if I say yes to meeting up at soft play I'm just asking for trouble. Or maybe I'm just being paranoid and far too over-cautious? What do you think?

I'd go. I know our soft play gets cleaned every night at the end but its only a small place.
If you dont feel comfortable with it maybe think of something else to do?

Emma, ours definitely doesn't get cleaned every night, or at least not as thoroughly as it should. I can't tell you the number of bugs I've picked up from there in the past!

At your stage of pregnancy I think you're right. What about a visit to an outdoor park in the fresh air instead? The kids could get all wrapped up.

I'd much rather get out in the fresh air! Unfortunately the weather forecast for tomorrow is rain.

i dont think you are being over cautious, just protective of yourself, whether its cleaned or not soft play areas and toddlers groups are the best places to pick stuff up

Thing is I can deal with colds and minor ailments like that but what I don't want to pick up is a sickness bug. I absolutely HATE sickness bugs and will do anything to avoid them.

If thats the case, I'd def avoid it.
Maybe invite them to yours and have the kids play and you two can chat and have coffee?
