copy and pasted: its been three years since i had a newborn i cant remember what is normal and whats not! connor is formula fed and has runny poop, he has since day 2 he is 4 days now, its the colour it should be though (yellow) & after his feeds he is not sick and doesn't seem to have a belly ache, he settles right back to sleep and doesn't have crying episodes as if his in pain but he is pooping up to 8 times a day and they are all runny... is it normal or is it the milk needs changing?

It sounds like trying a new milk might be a good idea. I don't think there's anything wrong with runny poop at 4 days but the amount of poop sounds a tad excessive?

When I moved on from breast milk Michaela seemed not to agree with SMA but we put her on Aptamil and she's been fine since.

Perhaps ask the HV what they think as well though of course they're not always the font of all knowledge.

It does sound like he could do with a change of milk. Although it's not upsetting his tummy as such I do think that's a few too many bowel movements.

To be honest, If the milk wasnt agreeing with him you would know. Trust me!

Some babies poop a lot more then others.

Thanks, its not the amount of times he poops that bothers me as i know newborns poop alot (lacey deffo did lol) just the texture of poop :-) mine have always had to *push* to go and it always seemed thick but he just farts it out and its runny but he seems settled after feeds and does not cry with belly ache etc .. oh what a conversation lol!

Ditto emma, lucas went through 3 diff milks and would scream most of the day with belly ache, connor spends most of his time asleep and settled.
