I wasn't planning to as I figured it would just be one more thing to obsess over, but a few weeks ago I ended up renting one. I'm so glad I did - it has definitely given me peace of mind, esp while weaning off met. I always get a little nervous when it takes more than a few seconds to find the little guy, but I love hearing his/her HB and when s/he moves around

We saw a Doppler at Wal-Mart the other day that we're going to pick up next week. It's more for my mom and other family members that don't get to be there for the check-ups than for me and hubby.

I went without one. I figured if I had access to one I'd never put it down.

It is tempting but I try to limit my use - I want to limit it to a few times a week, but now (just stopped met) its usually once a day (or twice as with today )

And just for fun - here is from this afternoon's check up! S/he was moving a bit at the beginning so I edited it out - I was impressed I was able to get him/her this clear for this long - I figure it will be a nice little keepsake of sorts later

I bought a Sonotrax doppler off of ebay for about 150. It took awhile to get used to working the machine, especially because I had no idea where to look for bub. After awhile, I did get a good heartbeat. I'm also going to try to limit the use to once or twice a week. I'm hoping it helps me relax during the 4-5 weeks between ob visits.
