Hello....I have been reading all the forums for months now, trying to avoid getting involved just because I don't want to be thinking too much about all this. We've been actively trying for 8 months now, I was off the pill for 8 months before that just seeing what would happen, basically just not trying to prevent. Anyway, clearly no BFP's! I have finally admitted to myself that something is probably wrong. When I was 16ish I was told I had ovarian cysts. I was having excruciating stomach pains so finally I got an US, and they put me on BC to control it or whatever. At the time obviously it doesn't mean much because I wasn't trying to have babies in high school. Over the years I have been on BC off and on, the last time I was on Yasmin for 3 years. Since I went off it, aside from not getting pregnant, I have been miserable. I don't really remember how I was before I went on it, but I know I have always had major stomach problems. Now that we are TTC, I realize it is probably something more. I get my period every month, but it can range from 23-30 days (sorry, 23-30 days/cycle). I always get excruciating cramps, major PMS....its just bad. Whenever I am off BC, I get cystic acne. This time I get it on my face, underarms and bikini line, even had one on my chest which required small procedure and now have a hideous scar. 16 months ago my skin was practically perfect. I am overweight, majority in the middle, to the point where people ask me if I am pregnant, which is insulting and embarrassing! I don't know what kind of person thinks asking a stranger that is okay....Anyway, I also have more hair than I think I should...
What I want to know is what should I do to get my Dr. to acknowledge this? I kind of hate my Dr. and want to get a new one too. If I just call the fertility clinic my Dr told me to go to, what will they say? Its already been so long, I really just want to start doing whatever I need to do (if I do have PCOS) ASAP. I will be 30 next month. I keep putting all this off, but obviously there is a problem. I am just worried that the Dr will not take me seriously and take their time diagnosing whatever is wrong with me. Also, what exactly needs to be done to test me, then treat it and get me on some meds?

I would call a fertility specialist, tell them your problems and you have been trying for 8 months and you think you have PCOS!! I went to my RE(reproductive endocrinologist) and she did an ultrasound right then and diagnosed me!! It was the best thing I ever did!! You need an ultrasound and a whole ton of bloodwork to diagnose you(atleast thats what I had)and your RE will come up with the best course of action for you!! Whether it be Clomid, Femara, Metformin, whatever it may be!! Diet and exercise also seems to help considerably!!
Anyways, good luck!!

Hello, I had a lot of what you describe and I was diagnosed with PCOS about two months ago. I put off seeing a doctor for two years hoping I would just get pregnant. I went to an OBGYN and luckily she was great and dxed me on the spot. As soon as you take the first step to see a fertility specialist or doctor you will be able to start treating the root of the problem and hopefully get your BFP not long after! And if PCOS is your dx, Don't lose hope, women who have PCOS are always getting pregnant...it just seems to take a little more work!

Welcome! You should definitely stick around here, all of the ladies on this board are super supportive and it's nice to have people you can talk to who are going through a lot of the same things! Good luck to you and keep us posted!

Hey ladies....thank you! I put a call in to the Dr. they better call me back soon! I feel like now that I have finally called, I need to do this quick, before I change my mind. So all I will need to do is get bloodwork and an ultrasound and then they will know? Do any of you worry about multiples when you go on meds? I think if I have to go through anything and take meds I would be happy to have more than one, just to avoid having to go through this again! My BIL/SIL has twins from being on Clomid, first time she took it, got pregnant right away with twins.

I had all those problems, I would skip periods, I had cystic acne near my bikini/thigh area and the doc took one look at me and disgnosed me. You may also want your adrenal glands checked-that's what he is doing for me. I hope you get your answers-after years, I found a good doc who ACTUALLY RAN TESTS. *gasp* and got it figured out.

I feel like all the symptoms I have, she would at least consider it. I mean, I actually have all of them except I get my period every month. This month I got it a week later than last month. It always comes, but I never know when, you know? Well, she said she'd do the testosterone test too anyway....I just feel like I know my body....it just drives me crazy, Dr's who don't consider what the patient actually thinks! I honestly just don't see any other reason as to why I can't get pregnant. Whatever - I guess we'll see after the bloodwork!
