So I've tried starting running again several times in the past 2 years, but always lose motivation... When I was younger, I was a long distance runner. Even won a few ribbons & medals. I wasn't half bad. It is the only form of exercise I actually enjoy, because I feel like I'm doing something - not just working out for the sake of putting on elastic clothes and looking cool.

I've found a plan that will actually be a step back for me to start, considering I can already do Stage 9 out of 10 - but I figure if I follow the plan exactly, it will minimize my injury risk and help keep motivation up.

It starts by walking for 20 minutes. That's it!

So, any ladies who can kinda run but are finding it hard to stay motivated, want to be my partner in the training program? I just did day 1 yesterday, but I can repeat it or you can skip it if you walked yesterday anyway.

They say to take 2 rest days per week, but warning, I'm not taking those days off. I'll be walking or weight training instead of running, but I'm not doing "nothing" - so I'm hoping to find a partner who is the same way.

The program is pretty easy, you don't even have to be able to run more than 2 minutes at a time until you hit like week 3 - so if anybody wants to partner up, I'd love a running buddy!

We can login here every day after our session and talk about it. Give eachother some accountability And of course I'll give all the details on the training program. It's from Runners World magazine, it came in the back of their Training Log that I got as a gift when I subscribed

So - who wants to pound the pavement with me?

I have to that no one has volunteered yet... come on ladies, step up! Exercise is a non-negotiable with PCOS, IMHO! Sounds like fun, too. I wish I could do it myself, but I have such bad knees I have to stick with lower impact stuff like yoga, biking and swimming. Too bad, I loved running as a kid.

Aww its OK Mandy I'm already on day 5, and feeling better already! I gotta admit, walking at first was SOOO easy - but I've walked 15km in 5 days, and I gotta say, it does get harder as you go when you do it every single day! But I'm looking forward to being able to start the running portion... I get to go for my first "run" on Tuesday!

I'm glad you're feeling better, I know how it is... when I'm being really good and disciplined about my yoga I feel on top of the world! But I was sick and now the tendonitis in my shoulder is bothering me, so it's been 2 weeks or so. I feel like crap... ughhh, if it isn't one thing it's another! The bad knees run in my family. Last time I went running when I was 19 my knee blew out, I tore some cartilage, and was on crutches for 3 weeks. That was the end of my running career.

Still no volunteers huh? I would do it with you but I too have bad knees, well one bad knee at least. I had surgery on it about 7 years ago and it just can't take the high impact. I am starting to use an elliptical though. I love yoga too and it sucks that neither of the gyms on the two military bases here have yoga classes. I'm sure I could find one outside the bases but since I don't speak Dutch it would be kinda awkward.

Do you belong to the JM running mommies group? I do and there are ladies there that share your common interest. I'm forgetting where it is....it's a Group, not a message board.

Ok.....instead of clicking on "Message Boards" on the top right of the screen, click on Groups. Then you are looking for Running Mommies Group.
