Hello all! Please feel free to tell me if I have posted in the wrong place or if I'm doing this wrong...I've never been on a message board before, so I'm a little overwhelmed with trying to figure out what I'm doing lol!
A little about me, I'm an almost 25 year old woman in the Midwest. I've been married to my best friend for almost 2 years. I was pregnant once in 2003, but he was stillborn at 26 weeks. Since then we haven't really been actively TTC, but I haven't been on birth control since we got married. I went to the dr four months ago to get some tests run, and she diagnosed me with PCOS. I was laid off before I could go to my follow up appointment. My new job doesn't offer insurance, so now I'm trying to figure out any herbal or natural methods to help control my PCOS and to help us conceive. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I really don't know where to start! Thanks in advance for your help ladies and I look forward to sharing this journey with you!
Nice to meet you! There are lots of ladies here who use natural methods to control PCOS - the big three being Vitex (chasteberry) which you can find in the supplements section of your local pharmacy (if you can't find it on its own, look for menopause supplements - they usually contain it all), weight loss (a big factor in PCOS) and a low glycemic index diet (which reduces insulin and therefore symptoms.)
I'm sure you can find a lot more, but that should get you started!
Big huge hugz and thanks to tasha_mae for my beautiful siggy!
Welcome!! You are definitely posting in the RIGHT place, and we hope you'll stick around! This board is a great place to find support and get answers to your questions as you navigate the sometimes challenging waters of TTC w/PCOS! Cheryl covered 3 of the most popular natural options, but there is much more on that and others in the FAQs sticky (stickies are the topics highlighted in pink at the top of the forum). Commonly asked about topics are in bold letters, so skim through it and see what sounds like a good fit for you! Lots of luck to you, I'm so sorry you have to go through the struggle of no insurance- I've been there, and it's just not fair. Keep us posted on your progress, we'd love to get to know you better!
