I am just now venturing into TTC.

How long did it take you to become pg?

What worked best?

What should I stay away from?

Charting advice?

Thanks ladies for your help!

How long did it take you to become pg? with my first 5.5 years, second was 12 months, 3rd(miscarriage) 14 months, we have been ttc for 16 months since then.

What worked best? metformin

What should I stay away from? I try to avoid caffeine, and then I don't drink in the tww - not that I drink much if at all before that.

Charting advice? depends on what you know already, there is a lot to charting. BUt it is a great way to see what your body is doing - do it if you can.

took me and dh about 16 months to get pregnant. in our case, the thing that worked best was Ovarian Drilling Surgery! we went through a ton of fertility treatment for several cycles before we opted for the surgery! i would do it all over again in a heartbeat because i fell pregnant 2 months (almost to the day) of the surgery when doctor gave me up to 6!!!! so it was quick! i used opks, charting and temping as well as a fertility monitor for two months post op and i guarantee and chalk up the BFP to those things as well because everything was timed perfectly!!! i was also on a high dose of metformin which also helped.

Metformin, if you can tolerate it, has great benefits! Temping is wonderful is you have the patience for it because you will learn to read your body. i know a lot of women also check their Cervix position which i've never done but i hear that helps a ton as well. I think any proactive thing you do towards ttc is only beneficial!

Thank you guys for the advice. I am on metformin currently. 500mg twice a day. i just started the charting process. bought opks. which leads me to another question. why are there 2 lines on the opks, but it still means it is negative?

the test line and the control line! the test line (which is your result) needs to be the same color or darker than the test line for it to be positive! if its lighter, that means you are going to O.... hope that helps... you can also read more extensively on the subject here:

My first was a honeymoon "surprise" and that was in the days before I was dx'ed and PCOS wasn't really causing me any issues.

My 2nd was conceived in the post PCOS days and took about 9months, 5-6 with MA. He was conceived on 1500mg Met and on my 2nd round of clomid. I also charted and used OPKs.

My charting advice is just to be consistent and try not to read too much into it. I became a little obsessed by it at times and that morning temp could determine if it was a good or bad day lol. One aspect I'm not looking forward to when I start again in a week or so.

To make sure I tempted at the same time everyday I'd have DH wake me when he got up from work, temp, and go back to bed. We'd also set an alarm on the weekends and then go back to sleep.

How long did it take you to become pg? My ds was a honeymoon baby, so we didn't try for him. My dd took 2 years.

What worked best? Clomid

Charting advice? Try fertilityfriend.com to track, do it vaginally and same time everyday. I set my alarm and took my temp before I got out of bed.
