Hi there,

I am currently 20 weeks pregnant and my best friend has PCOS and is trying to conceive herself but is having difficulty. I feel terrible that this is happening because she loves kids and just wants to be a mommy. I want to be supportive for her and it breaks my heart every time she sees my belly growing a little bit. I don't know what to do or say! Does anyone have any suggestions on good ways for friends to be supportive during this time?? Thanks.

Unfortunately there isn't really a lot you can do. Your friend is in a very difficult position. She probably wants to be happy for you and may want to be involved with your pregnancy in terms of being there for you or whatever, but at the same time she's mourning for a child she hasn't conceived. There is no right or wrong because to her everything is going to feel right and wrong at the same time.

You are always welcome to suggest this board to her if she would like a place to get advice, vent, whatever. PCOS can be a very emotional problem and nobody should feel like they're going through it alone.
