Anybody else adding weightloss/exercise as their new years resolution?

I've been losing weight for a few months now but definitely took a break over the holidays. I was trying to do the couch to 5k but then my treadmill hit the hay. I'm now doing the 30 day shred but I really wish I would've gone into that straight after the C25K. I had finally made some headway but I quit working out in general and now I'm paying for it. That Jillian sure does mean business. Oy!

I tried the 30 day shred about 6 months ago. It was rough on my knees! I made it about 2 weeks and then gave up. Keep at it though! I didn't really see weight loss but I was losing inches. So word of advice, measure! AND maybe even take before and after pictures. Best of luck Amanda!

I just started the 30 day shred two days ago (suggested by my crazy fit friend) and I was sore for sure the next day. It felt like nothing the first day, too.. sooo, now I am going to keep it up. I like it.

Day 2:

I dunno how I'm gonna stay motivated to do this. I get so easily discouraged with working out. I don't enjoy how it feels, I don't dig the burn and the fact that as soon as it gets easy I hafta push to a new level is extra discouraging.

I think you can do it. I am so fed up with where I am at now and refuse to buy any more bigger clothes, so I am there with you. I am going to try to do 30 days (not counting weekends bc I spend those with DH) on level one and try to push it up to 2.. then 3 after another 30.. So, I am hoping by 4 months from now I am fitting my regular clothes again! The only way I am going to buy bigger clothes is when I am preggo!

You could do what I do.. I am taking pictures of myself once a week in my sports bra and shorts just so I have to face myself. I hate it but that way when I see my progress I will be encouraged or when I see the picture I want to change it. Sometimes we don't notice the changes right away but pictures don't lie.

I also might print out a picture and stick it on both bathroom mirrors and on the fridge and pantry at the end of this month when DH is going away for 2.5 weeks for some leadership training course. I might be so sore those days because I will push myself more knowing I don't have to get up and make him dinner and everything at the end of the day.

Day 3:

Owwwww

Melissa:
I think you'll find that you won't even take a full 30 days to need to push up to the next level. I'm going to *try* to advance every 10 days like you're supposed too but right now on day 3 I haven't even fully made it through workout 1 without taking small breaks so I dunno. Also if I was you I'd take those 2.5 weeks to let Jillian kick your *** and see how much you can lose/tone and surprise your hubby with it when he gets home

I have started doing Zumba And. I. Love. It!!!!!!!!!!!!

It kicks my tail, but I loooooovvvveeee it!!!

This week I have done it 5 out of 7 days!!! Tuesday-Saturday!!

I have lost 3 lbs but I can tell in my waistline more than anything...

Plus, I have tried (per the suggestion of a good friend who gave me samples to try) Visalus Shakes and I have ordered a kit for myself! She is heavier than me, but she is doing Zumba and the Shakes (2/day) and has lost 9 lbs in the past week! Plus there are all kinds of recipes that you can make, so that keeps it interesting I suppose....

I don't think I could make any MAJOR changes in 2.5 weeks but I guess it is a great idea to try. I think I will go for it. Small breaks are fine. You'll be not breaking before you know it.. as long as you stick with it.

@Melissa-If you think about it 2.5 weeks is over half the time of the shred...there are some huge results in the whole 30 days so maybe you will see a good change

@Tot- I like Zumba too but for some reason I've wimped out on going back. It's hard for me too since at the time I had FIL to keep Zach for an hour while I went. After my shred I might start going back, who knows! Let me know how those shakes taste too!

I skipped yesterday on the shred so I'll be here to whine about day 4 later! I'm starting my diet again today so hopefully I'll start to see some real results.

Good luck, Jillian means business. I have one of her dvd's as well and always find it hard to get motivated to continue doing it because I am in so much pain. I think I will work on getting cardio in at the gym for a bit and then try to either do my Zumba on the Wii or Jillian once I have some endurance back.
