I'm only charting right now to get the hang of it and will actually start watching my chart next cycle.

My ? is that during the week I get up about 4-4:30 to get ready for work and will be taking my temp then. However on the weekends I stay up till sometime between 2-4am to spend some time with DH because he works 2nd shift and we don't really get to see each other any. So will it be ok to temp check later in the am on the weekends since I won't be in bed for the required time if I check on time.

Like today I went to bed about 3am, DH woke me up at 4am when he wanted to talk and watch YouTube videos on his phone, I was up till about 5am for that, then DS woke up at 6am and I had to get up to change him and get him a cup of milk. I made it back to bed around 7am when I got him back in bed. I was able to sleep till about 11am and checked my temp then when I finally woke up.

This is my normal weekend. Will this throw my chart off too much?

It may throw your chart off... but I would still temp when you can. Try to make sure you have at least 3 hours of sleep and temp as close to the time you normally would when possible. There's usually a spot to mark the time, and some programs can "fix" your temp for you... or adjust it to what they think it would have been if you temped at the right time. I'm sure some of the other girls can explain better lol I feel like I didn't explain well, but I only temped for about 2 months so I don't really know THAT much

I am no temping expert by any means, but MamaAnna is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to temping questions!

How much that affects your chart will depend on how much you're affected by time differences overall. Definitely still try to temp every day and at the very least plug the temps in and discard them. It'll still show the dot, but it won't connect the line to those temps. If you can tell that they're way outside of the norm then don't use them, but if they seem to fall within your normal range then go ahead and un-discard them so they'll be considered with the rest of your temps.

Another option, as was mentioned, is correcting your temps. The problem with that is the further off from your normal waking time that you are the less likely it is for the corrected temps to be accurate. It's something you could do, but you should proceed with caution until you know if it would be a valid option or if it would throw your chart worse than the actual temps.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't know what the discard spot was for. That may be a good option for me until I get the hang of things.

Yeah as long as most of your temps are okay it's fine to discard one every now and then. It shouldn't affect your chart much unless you discard during O time. Then it might throw the CHs off.
