I have been diagnosed with pcos for about 2 years. I have high testosterone, low progesterone and my estrogen is normal. I haven't a regular period for about a year and a half. I was put on a birth control to help with the symptoms (hair growth, acne, ect.) And give me a regular period. Until about 5 months ago I stopped taking it to help with weight loss (about 40-50 pounds overweight) Ever since stopping birth control I haven't had af at all. I was also put on metformin but after getting sick every time I took it I stopped.
Me and my husband just recently decided to start ttc and I have read about vitex. I started taking 1000mg a day for the past 2 weeks but so far no change at all. I also read that with this type of pcos instead of the high estrogen pcos that there wouldn't be much hope with the vitex for me.
Should I keep taking the vitex and be patient and see what happens or does anyone know other methods to help me conceive.
I'm trying to lose weight, I take prenatal and flaxseed oil (helps with progesterone levels)
Thanks for the help!!!

To be honest I'm not that familiar with vitex. From my quick google search it seems like taking might help increase progesterone, but also might decrease estrogen which you don't need if yours is fine. I also read that it can take a few months to see any change.

Some of the other ladies on here are trying to use natural methods (or did use them) to conceive so hopefully one of them will chime in for you. I got put on Clomid right away to try and help me ovulate. I also take DHA which is good for PCOS overall even if you aren't trying to conceive, and a few things to help with the insulin resistance side of PCOS.

I have started a no carb diet and only drink water. BUT... I have PCOS and had never had regular periods until Dec 2011. I do not know what completely changed it except I was taking a prenatal, folic acid, DHA, and a woman's multivitamin. I also started drinking herbal teas like spearmint tea, green tea, and some raspberry tea I got at Walgreen's that helps with women's fertility

I hope this helps. I am not completely sure about Vitex. I tried it back a couple of years ago and never really say any improvements with it. I have heard it works a lot like Clomid and should not be taken with Soy Iso.

GOOD LUCK and keep us posted! I do know that i can take at least 12 weeks to see any improvements with Vitex.

I do know some ladies with PCOS have taken it, I'm not all that familiar with it honestly.

I have heard that it can take a few months to take affect or make a difference.
I agree that some of the components of it can interact with Soy Iso and some other meds. If you are unsure, you could always consult with your OB's nurse about any meds you may be taking and ask for any advice or intereactions?

Good luck with everything!
