What time or times during the day do you use OPKs?

I know NOT to use first morning urine and later in the day is better, but if I use them too late in the evening (like 8pm) could I possible miss the LH surge?

It's been so long...trying to remember all these TTC hoops we jump through!

I use them SMU (second morning urine) until the line starts to get darker or i get EWCM. Then I do SMU and before bed. This cycle I actually did them three times for a few days, adding in early evening.

Some women have short surges that only last 12 hours or so. If you only test once a day it's possible you can miss it.

Good point about testing multiple times! I think in order to ration the OPKs at this point since I have no signs of impending ovulation or AF, I will test once a day until I see other signs (cervix & EWCM) and then maybe do it twice or more a day at that point...

So hard to predict how my cycle will be considering 1) recent Implanon removal and 2) PCOS (even though I'm on Metformin)...

I agree, SMU is most of the time best and many do early evening to try to catch the surge. Some have to test at various times to notice when their body responds best. Good luck and hopefully it won't take long after your Implanon removal for you to get your BFP!!

SMU = Second Morning Urine. FMU (first morning urine) is best for pregnancy tests, but not for OPKs. I can't really remember why... I think because women normally surge in the morning, but it takes a few hours for the increased LH to enter the urine so you need to test a few hours after your surge.
