Sorry for the lack of posts lately, but my sister was here for a week and then we had DD 3rd birthday on Monday, so life has been a whirlwind of activity around here...slowly starting to get back into a regular routine (whatever that is!).
So...I did end up seeing my OB/GYN on Friday the 19th and she did prescribe Clomid for me. Even though I was CD 6 already, she said since this was my last month of trying, she didn't want me to miss a chance and thought it would be fine. She was a little concerned that I seem to be ovulating later (around CD 21) than she would like to see. She prescribed 100mg, which I thought was a lot, but she said that the studies show the efficacy better at 100mg than 50mg and sometimes 50mg does nothing to help with ovulation. I asked about an U/S, but she said she usually doesn't do them for Clomid (is this the case with anyone else??) and just do OPKs and timed intercourse...
Still wish I could have an U/S just to make sure I don't end up with something outrageous like 5 eggs or whatnot (which I know is not likely). But, I guess she's been doing this for a long time and it's never been an issue. In fact, my friend IRL who also goes to her and has PCOS was given clomid to help conceive both of her children...she wasn't monitored either, so who knows??
I kind of wish I hadn't taken the Soy Iso now last cycle to know if I would have ovulated on my own or not...I took the equivalent to about 50mg Clomid last cycle...so...who knows?
Just waiting to O at this point, really hoping it will be sooner than CD 21
Good luck! For some reason I O'd CD16 my first month on 50mg then didn't again till CD20 both on 150mg and 200mg so who knows what day your O will be on this cycle. Hopefully yours does the opposite of mine and you O on CD17 this time haha.
My doctor only gives ultrasounds if I don't ovulate. At first it was if I didn't get a +OPK by CD15 I'd make an appointment to check how things were going but now that I've been O'ing so late I'll wait till at least CD20 before getting one.
The chances of twins are only like 8% higher than whatever your natural risks would be (usually 2-3% unless you have a family history) and the chance of triplets or more is only like .5% so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Thanks Bokkechick for my wonderful siggy! TTC Blog
