I have finished my first round of Clomid 50mg and will go on Friday to have a progesterone level drawn to see if I ovulated on this dosage of Clomid. Should I also expect an ultrasound? From what I have read most of y'all had ultrasounds but my doctor(gyn) hasn't mentioned anything about doing ultrasounds. Is this more something that a fertility doctor would do?

Thanks
Ashley

What CD are you getting your progesterone tested on? I've had ultrasounds done before but usually before ovulation.

Thank you for your response. Today was day 20. They wanted me to get it drawn on day 21 but it's Saturday so they said today would be fine. Already been and had blood drawn and should have results on Monday afternoon

I just finished my second round of clomid. My doc did an vaginal sono before ovulation with the first round and will do another this round.

Hope it comes back that you ovulated! Honestly though, even if it doesn't come back high enough it doesn't mean you haven't/won't ovulate. Progesterone tests are only really accurate at 7 dpo, and the chances of you ovulating exactly on CD13 or 14 aren't super good. Most people ovulate 5-10 days after their last pill so depending on if you took it CD3-7 or 5-9, you will probably ovulate between CD12-19. I usually ovulated on CD20. If you had just ovulated a few days before the test your progesterone might not have risen enough yet to get a good number, but if you tested again now it probably would. IMO the best way to confirm ovulation is through basal body temperature charting.
