This seemed like the most fitting group to join, considering I have PCOS and my husband and I have started thinking about another baby

My name is Ingrid and I am married to Chris. We are 26 and 27. We have a son Ezra who recently turned 1. We live in Australia!

A brief history on me:
Before conceiving Ezra, I had never been careful about falling pregnant. Over the years, I began to question my fertility because I never fell pregnant. I knew I had PCOS, but I didn't ever stop to consider that I may be 'infertile'.
Then we conceived Ezra. He was not planned and took us by complete surprise.
I fell pregnant at a time in my life where I was exceptionally healthy. I still didn't have a regular period, even when my diet was faultless. But I conceived Ezra during this time.

Well I saw a fertility specialist last week, and without going in to detail, it was horrid. I was basically told that I am too overweight to fall pregnant and that I should lose some weight and it would probably happen naturally on it's own.

Considering we've got a really busy year ahead, trying naturally is the better option.
I was wondering if you ladies could share some natural conception success stories with me and tell me if weight loss has ever helped you? I need to lose around 40 pounds! The diet began on Monday

Thanks in advance!

Diet can help you ovulate on your own but is not always a cure. Maybe they think that will help since you were able to conceive on your own the first time. Have you had hormone levels checked (lsh, fsh progesterone, testoserone, thyroid) or been checked for insulin resistance? If you are ok trying weightloss and naturally trying i would start there. Good luck to you!!

I had those tests done many years ago, and having them done again next week.
I am insulin resistant!

Hey Ingrid! I'm Beanie, Lovely to meet you. How frustrating of your Dr. Weight loss with PCOS is really hard I've found My dr says I have to loose weight for 6 months before he will consider treatment.

Hope you can shift your pounds easily, are you going to use any particular method like weight watchers or anything?

Hi There!!

I am not going to use any methods, because in the past they have failed because they became 'phases'.. What I am doing though, is researching the power behind clean eating, organic foods and highly nutritious diets. Not necessarily cutting carbs & fat, but trying to eat highly nutritious food and the least processed as possible. I am particularly interested in this because it stems far further than weight loss, but in to overall health and quality of life I have become fairly lazy with fitness, so it means I must put more hard work in to what I eat!
I am changing, simply because I do the research on the dangers of highly processed foods and the chemicals found in them!!
This strategy has worked far better for me than any other because I feel safety comes in to it as well!

It's worth a try if you've struggled with a lot of other attempts Be warned however, once you start researching you'll never forget what you read and food no longer becomes what goes on to your hips, but what you're doing to your whole entire well being!

Let's see what the next 6 months has install for us

I'm Tasha, the host for this board. I'm sorry your appointment did not go well. I've had doctors tell me the same thing and it's super frustrating. Of course in my situation, weight loss has never helped me. In high school I weighed between 120-130 and still never ovulated. Hopefully since you have been able to conceive naturally in the past, getting healthier will work wonders for you this time!
