Grounding is the act of centering our energy body so that we are more focused. Everything in this world emits energy, whether alive or inanimate. All day long we’re passing through energy fields of other people and objects. These energies affect us in profound ways from the physical, emotional to the psychic. Would you like to walk around every day wearing 5 sweaters and 3 pairs of jeans? Especially if the only layer of clothing that is YOURS is your bra and underwear? That’s what happens w/ energy. It is important to stay mindful of our energy bodies and cleanse energy/ground every day. Our energy body is just as much a part of us as cleaning your toes in the shower.
Whenever my house is messy, my brain goes chaotic, I can’t think or form cohesive thoughts and I am in a horrible mood. I use this example a lot because it fits into many of the energy examples needed. What I do is clean… which not only cleans my house but allows the energy to flow once again. Cleaning is also a grounding technique, as you’re using your hands and anything that uses the hands is therapeutic. Painting, sculpting, playing guitar, drawing, making jewelry, knitting etc…
Another way to ground is by being outside and squishing your toes in the ground. I don’t much prefer this method because I don’t like dirty toes There are many ways you can ground, and most of you if not all of you probably already have your own techniques.
I used to breathe deeply and every time I breathed out I would imagine pushing black negativity out of my body into the Earth and when I would breathe in I would breathe clear white light.
Another technique is to imagine the Earth has grown around your feet w/ roots and you are rooted/grounded into the Earth.
My most recent, and favorite is courtesy of a t.v. show talking about gravity and physics. It was explaining how Issac Newton saw an apple fall from a tree and it made him wonder why the Apple fell and why the moon stayed where it was…what was the force that made these things happen. It was gravity, due to the big ole magnet in the Earth’s core. This sent a light bulb off in my head.
Now I imagine that the core of the Earth is acting as a magnet on the negative energy in my body and just sucking it away from me, just like everything is being pulled towards Earth. I then do the breathing of clear white light for positive energy. Just like w/ giving blood and having to eat a snack afterward, you want to replenish your energy after you get rid of the negative energy.
