A BoS or Book of Shadows is called many other things as well. Spiritual book, journal, diary etc… It’s a book that you keep all of your info/thoughts in. You can have one book, or many, or not a book at all and keep all of your info on your computer (but back it up!).

It’s important to keep a BoS because you may need or want to go back to an important happening in your life to compare where you stand now from then.
Also, you may write down a dream interpretation that eventually makes sense and you might want to go back and make notes!

Important “crafty” information (like making incense), your religious beliefs etc…

First step is to make a BoS, but then… what to put in it and how to organize it?
Here are some key things that are usually in a BoS, but put in there whatever you want and organize it however you deem fit, it’s YOUR book! I put mine in a 3 ring binder and separate with those plastic thingies. LOL!

Beliefs
How do you view the Divine?
What happens after death (reincarnation)?
What are your religious morals?
Do you believe in the Three Fold Law or Wiccan Rede? Do you adhere to any other belief creed?
Do you have any spiritual goals? Three months, six months, a year…?

Tools
What tools do you use and why?
How to cleanse tools.

Correspondences
Colors
Elements
Moon Phases
Days of the Week
Crystals
Herbs
Oils
Runes
Etc…

Ritual Outline
Review of previous rituals done, what happened, how you feel…

Premonitions & Psychic Impressions

Dream Interpretations

Divination
If you’re into Divination, put some info down about what you like and why…

okay so im working on this now. iv converted my old blog into a BoS.

i want to do a hard copy in a three ring binder buuuttt due to privacy issues, i think it best to try it this way.

I haven't worked on my BoS in years! But I've been thinking aboit it a lot lately... especially because I've been getting back into spellwork... and I've been doing lots of tarot, and I'll begetting some Ogham staves for Mother's Day. I'd like to keep a journal of all the spells I've done. I'm already journaling my tarot readings (but I need to get more organized with it), and plan to do the same with the Ogham readings.

As for my book of rituals, I'd love to start working on it more.

It did! Last night in bed I wrote out a rough outline for an online BoS.

My BoS is a collection, not a journal. It contains snippets from magazines, stuff copied from books or from online, and printouts of online stuff...a collection of spells, charms, positive thinking tools, spiritual strategies, correspondences, etc. I do intend to start a spiritual journal too but I suspect it won't happen until after baby is born. But that for me will be broader than a BoS as it will include things rooted in religions other than Paganism which I am interested in, too (eg prayers etc).

Creative writing is also a good thing to include, especially stream of consciousness, channelling, poetry etc.
