Yuppers, my husband's cousin married a girl who thinks raising your child in ANY religion is akin to letting the TV raise them since you know we all just dump our kids on the nuns 90% of the day :/ so we get into LOTS of arguments...we disagree on almost everything.
I have run into people who don't believe in a higher power or just think that the catholic church is full of corruption. But than again, I look at the people in my church/community. We have 4,500 families in our parish. Plus it is nice to see young families. We actually started up a young family fellowship program that we meet once a month. So there are always going to be people out there that don't agree with what you believe in but there are also going to be people that are.
My sister hates religion, doesn't believe in God, and pokes fun at my mother, myself, and anyone else who goes to church. She doesn't actually say anything to my face now since I've had my daughter, but she just doesn't understand why I feel the need to follow my faith.
I didn't always. We were all raised Catholic and then in our teens we left. I'm the only one of my siblings to come back and embrace my faith again.
This girl I've known since I was in elementary school or so was telling me just yesterday how religion is just to control people. And comparing it to government mandates. Her hatred of religion just seems confused to me. Like I was thinking "I doubt you ever were raised in any religion, because this isn't the kind of hatred I've seen when people TURN on religion, it is the kind that was bred in."
